The Simplex Titan Resistibe/Reactive Load Bank is designed for testing, maintenance, and performance analysis of very high capacity electrical loads of large AC power systems. The load bank is a self-contained unit providing resistive and inductive loads to 1500KVA at 0.8 power factor. Multiple units can be paralleled to achieve virtually any total capacity desired.


  • Load Capacity: Max capacity of 1500 kVA at 0.8 pf.
  • Voltage Options: All common 50 & 60 Hz three-phase voltages up to 600V.
  • Load Step Resolution: 25KW / 18.75KVAR minimum.
  • Duty Cycle: Rated for continuous operation.
  • Controller: Simplex D-Series Digital Controller with local or remore color TFT touchpanel operator interface.
  • Control Power: Internal from load bus. Control circuits operate at 120V via transformer. Control circuits are fused.
  • Cooling Power: Internal from load bus. Cooling fan operates at 3-phase line voltage.
  • Cooling: Three-phase TEFC motor driving cast aluminum fan blade. Forced-air vertical airflow - cold air intake from sides, hot air exhaust at top. Exhaust hood included.
  • Load Elements: Simplex Powr-Web chromium alloy, open wire, continuously supported, power resistor; Elements mounted in slide-out trays; Resistive and inductive loads controlled separately to permit power factor variation; Rack mounted iron-core inductive load elements; UL Recognized.
  • Load Circuit Protection: Branch circuit fuses: 50kW each resistive branch circuit max. Fuses are current limiting type, 200,000 AIC, 600V, enabling safe use on large generating or UPS system.
  • System Protections: Sensors, alarms (alarm message on remote operator interface terminal), lock-outs as appropriate, for the following: fan failure, high exhaust temperature, high intake temperature; Over temperature switch embedded in coils.
  • Load Connections: Connect to plated bus bar with an oversized terminal junction box.
  • Enclosure: Modular enclosure consists of three parts: 1. NEMA-3R rainproof power section including load elements and cooling fan; 2. NEMA-3R control section, thermally and electrically isolated from power section; 3. Exhaust hood with rain separators mounted atop power section. All parts of the enclosure are abrasive blasted or chemically etched, and finished in powder-coat or epoxy/polyurethane, dark gray. The exhaust hood is powder-coated with high temperature black powder. Anti-condensation heaters at 120V, 1ø, 240V 1ø, or any common 3ø voltage.
  • Portable: Can be moved using a forklift or a crane, or mounted on an optional trailer. Trailer installations can accommodate multiple units within the weight capacity of the trailer.
  • Network Capable: Multiple Titan load banks can be paralleled to achieve virtually any total capacity desired.
  • National Fire Protection Association (NFPA): Satisfies the requirements for emergency stand-by power systems.
